For fans attending Comic-Con in San Diego, CA – spread the Rabbit Fever! Comics artist Jeffrey Brown – illustrator of Rabbit Fever’s poster artwork – will be freely offering sweet-looking 1″ Rabbit Fever buttons at the Top Shelf Comix booth today and tomorrow (Booth #1721). Show your love for rabbits and support the film…and did I mention that yellow looks REALLY good on you? :)

Also, if you haven’t already figured it out, I’m a pretty big fan of Jeffrey Brown’s autobiographical comics. Check out his website at www.jeffreybrowncomics.com.

Do you have what it takes to be Rabbit King or Queen?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

rabbitroyaltycourt

During my long journey of documenting footage for Rabbit Fever, I was very fortunate to have met and worked with so many bright, young adults who participated in the Youth Royalty Contests at the ARBA National Rabbit Convention year after year. If you know anything about the film, you would know that it extensively covers the process of what a person has to go through in order to win the title of National Rabbit King or Queen – it’s no easy feat!

With that said, I invite you to take a spin around the spiffy newly designed website and search for a little “Easter Egg” (hidden link) that I’ve included (it’s not that hard) in order to find a SAMPLE of one of the difficult royalty contests.

Original Song “Rabbit Fever” by John Elliott

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Allow me to introduce John Elliott & The Hereafter – the Los Angeles-based artist whose music has been featured on the hit ABC television series, Grey’s Anatomy, and known as the “Simon and Garfunkel of the 21st Century.”

After a good friend of mine showed John Elliott a rough cut of Rabbit Fever, John was inspired to write and perform a hauntingly contagious ballad for the film. One word to describe the effect of marrying the track – simply titled “Rabbit Fever” – to one of the most pivotal scenes of the film? Magic.

If you dig artists such as Elliot Smith, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Iron & Wine and John Mayer, you will appreciate the charming, folksy, mellow quality of John Elliot’s style.

Photography by Kate Kunath

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

It was a happy coincidence that I discovered talented photographer Kate Kunath’s work. Something about the expressions that she captured in her portraits really intrigued me. The funny thing is, she was actually at the National American Rabbit Breeders Convention in Rhode Island in 2004 – one of the same years that my crew came out to shoot. I knew I wanted her to be a part of Rabbit Fever somehow, so I was happy that she agreed to help me take some publicity stills for the film. To learn more about Kate, read her Q&A with Feature Shoot here. She also has more amazing work on her website.

Note: The photos below are actually separate from the stills that Kate has captured for Rabbit Fever. She took these portraits for her own portfolio and interest in the rabbit showing hobby. This is just an example of some of her amazing work!
